This has probably been asked, but I'm curious, do you think the Wolfsbane potion has to be taken at the same time every day for however long one has to take it, or can it vary?

[EDIT]The Skyhawke stuff hurts my brain, and I want it to go away. It's not that it really concerns me, what with my incompetence at writing, but, I don't know. I find it confusing and a bit frustrating to figure out.

Heck, I'm still not sure if it's taken every day or just before the full moon?

I don't know either. I think it has to be taken a few days before the full moon, but I don't know when a werewolf would have to start. In PoA Snape gives Lupin the potion in Chapter 8, then in Chapter 9 says "The school talked of nothing but Sirius Black for the next few days..." (PoA, 125), then on page 127 Harry enters Defence Against the Dark Arts class late, and Snape was there. I assume they have Defence Against the Dark Arts more than once a week or so, I think he has to take it a while before hand. I don't know if Rowling has said anything about it.

Something with that profound an effect Im guessing would be need to be taken around the same time each day otherwise the levels of it wouldn't be constant enough to alter your metabolism to that much of an extent. IMO

That's kinda what I thought. Actually, I assumed it kinda worked like The Pill, in that it works best if you take it at the same time every day, sort of thing.

Same with slow acting insulin. Best if you take it the same time every day.....
Are we over-thinking this?

Heh, probably. We are such dorks.

Yeah, but its fun! At least its something interesting to apply our scientific learning to *grins*

Pffffft. It's the little things in the fandom which are the best to ponder about. As said above, it's probably taken like a medication, so the same time daily.

But now you've made me curious enough to google it.

Shouldn't you KNOW Melis? Haven't you been taking yours? *grins*

Um... weeeeeell... *shifty eyes* it DOES taste awful... and you can't put sugar in it or else it doesn't work.

All I got were fanfics... and a few simple definitions which don't tell anything other than what is obviously known in the books. So I'm just going to stick with same time every day, several days (I'd say probably a week) prior to the full moon.

But I did find this! http://www.zhasea.com/logic/index.html

Logic puzzles!

We should make a book on the Science in the Wolfsbane potion and Other Harry Potter Potions. Yes. And sell millions of copies of it so we don't have to worry about Life After University.

[identity profile] klo-the-hobbit.livejournal.com 2005-04-13 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Well there was a book on the science behind Harry Potter didn't they? Maybe we should do our own version! That would be fun. And I definately don't want to worry about Life After University. Sounds like a plan.

Like the pill?

Basically, yeah.
