WTF, LJ?I come home from work and my flist has exploded (well, the HP fandom side) thanks to [livejournal.com profile] pornish_pixies's sudden suspension, which happens to be just in time for the fantasy fest (which hasn't actually been mentioned, but I am mentioning it because it makes me sad that the fantasy fest might be delayed, and/or gone). *is annoyed, angry and sad*
[livejournal.com profile] inell you will be my new bestest ever friend if you still write my request.

I'm wondering what caused it...there are a lot of other porny, kinky LJ comms out there (...or LJ journals in general) that haven't been affected. Did someone bitch or something?
ETA: apparently other comms and RPG journals are being affected.

For more info on stuff (because I'm just learning about it myself and can't give you any) [livejournal.com profile] liz_marcs seems to have a post on...stuff about LJ being pressured to purge certain accounts here. Read, or don't. Those in any fandom may want to take a gander, at least because it could potentially affect your fandom as well.

Quite possibly fuelled by this group: http://www.warriorsforinnocence.org/search/label/LiveJournal

And other porny, kinky LJ comms (and RPG journals) are also disappearing.

Ah, thank you for the info. I'm still a bit shocked and "what the hell is going on?" right now.

It appears an anti-child abuse vigilante group is pressuring LJ to crack down on anything related to child abuse or incest. Links to the explanatory posts are over on [livejournal.com profile] ms_katonic.

AH. thank you. I'm still going through those, actually. I'm still at the "What the hell is going on?" stage.

I'm confused. What was pornish_pixies about...?

uh...porn? Well, HP porn to be more precise. It's just...weird that, while yes, it did have some of the 'questionable' interests, however...it had been around for 4 years or so with no problems whatsoever. A lot of other comms have been affected to. Hell, a comm that was devoted to talking about the Lolita novel was suspended. Blargh.

Holy shit. Now, I belong to the "Lolita was NOT A ROMANCE OR LOVE STORY, SORRY" school, but IT'S NOT CHILD PORN. WHAT.

Dude, I know. That one was the biggest WTF thus far for me.

I believe "lolita" might be a trigger word for the vigilante group. They claim to not target fandom but they're not looking at any of the journals they report. Just the interest lists.

sorry more stuff

The thought is, that they were targeted (for lack of a better word) by a vigilante watchgroup because of some of the interests (I'm assuming things like chan and incest. Possibly non-con) anyway, they were deleted (that's the instance in a nutshell for you). For more info read my flailing flist. I'm...concerned about the SPN fandom and if they will be hit in all of this.

To be honest, Fandom Wank has pretty good coverage of this.

I'm at a loss. So much for free speech in fandom.

I'll check it out.

Indeed. *sigh*
*hugs*

And, I am not huge on chan or incest (though I have written the former, and disturbed myself doing it), but...it's fiction, you know? And fiction doesn't tell people what to do, or what has been done, it's a product of someone's mind (and I don't see these people going after Anne-Marie MacDonald for "Fall on your knees", or V.C. Andrews for the "Flowers in the Attic" series, and them calling these people omg pedophiles and deviants etc...)
BAH.

I will raise my hand and say I've read the occasional Sirius/Regulus and I've no idea why. Maybe because they're both pretty? (Though usually I'm just squicked.)

Fiction does not dictate life and behaviour. If it did then it wouldn't be fiction. The whole Warriors of Innocence organization actually frightens me a bit. They have no mission statement, no links to legitimate child abuse prevention sites or organizations. They are so far from legitimate it's not funny.

I've read both from time to time, but it's not something that I'm like "OMG MUST READ" if I know the author, I'll probably read it, but I don't really search for it, ya know?

The more I read about them, the more they frighten me, too.
Bah this whole thing blows.

I can't believe there was even a community dedicated to Nabukov's "Lolita" novel suspended because of the listed interests which correspond to the subject matter of the book. This is certainly a new wave of thought prevention and suspension of free will. What happened to the good old days when Right Wingers literally burned books and the rest of the world laughed at them?

I seriously just went through my interests to look for "questionnable content". I paused at both "communism" and "fascism" but while potentially controversal neither promote child abuse so I guess I'm okay. I might just f-lock my journal or something to be safe even though I've never entered "that" territory.

I really feel the loss of [livejournal.com profile] pornish_pixies though. I never read it but it was such a staple of fandom that it now feels extremely lacking.

bleh. this sucks like woah. I went through and edited my tags and icons. I suggest you guys do the same just in case. if they are just going for keywords, some of the crazy stuff I used as tags would have way been taken the wrong way.
