Dear self,

Remember how you made the corrections to your [livejournal.com profile] axial_tilt entry right after you got it back from being beta'd, because you didn't want to do the corrections later, as you have 3 essays due next week, none of them finished (and only one of them started)? Yeah, well, it would have been really cool, if you didn't delete the fucking file after making said corrections (and empty the recycling bin).

No love,

Me

To be fair the fic is not a million words long, but still. Annoyance in having to correct twice.

*pats* I know the feeling. Just tonight, I realised that when changing some file names for a project I'm working on, I managed to overwrite one of them completely. I blame Daylight Saving Time.

If you ever lose something truly invaluable in the future, my geeky friends tell me that even if you empty the recycling bin what you lost is recoverable. Just so long as you don't save anything new, or basically make any changes to the physical HD. Emptying the recycling bin is apparently like just saying, hey this space can be overwritten :)

if that happens, use the computer/disk drive as little as possible and either download a program to help recover the stuff, or take it to a specialist.
