Because this contains spoilers, it's going behind a cut.
Overall I liked the last two episodes, in parts I thought they were a bit draggy in scenes(as in they dragged on, not that they featured cross-dressing men), but overall I enjoyed them. I don't know if the ending with the Family was really necessary though...
Anyway, yes. Oh Martha, what I sort of enjoyed about this episode is that Martha comes out and says "I love the Doctor, but I know he'll never love me back the same way" and that she recognises that fact, while with Rose, I think she thought that the Doctor would either fall for her, or had already fallen for her, or that she'd stay with him forever, you know? But then, Rose annoyed the fuck out of me last season. And obviously this is how I feel and think about her, it may not actually be true for anyone else.
I sort of wonder how anyone can really OTP in this series now, or believe that the Doctor has a One True Love, because clearly it's not the case. Hm. Anyway.
I honestly can't really imagine what it would have been like for Martha in that time period. Not just because she's black (but that would play a role), but because of how far Women's rights and feminism have come. I know I'd have issues just with the gender roles, and the fact that I'd be so subordinate to men. (I won't turn this into a rant about modern time - I'll save that for another day)
Girl in the Mirror (Bloody Mary) and the Scarecrow, makes me wonder if The Doctor isn't really just out to fuck with the Winchesters.

on 2007-06-03 06:16 pm (UTC)Yeah, well. That's my logic. ;)
I loved this 2-parter. I think it was really well-done, well-written and crafted. I have my thoughts posted about it here, so come on over if you like, and take a read.

on 2007-06-03 06:40 pm (UTC)Agreed. I'm a ship and let ship person, and every now and again I'm curious about a Doctor/Rose fic (and, since I generally watch the newsletters, I don't really have much to go on going in, minus the title and rating), and inevitably I find myself reading something where Rose and the Doctor are True Love Forever. And that just pisses me off.

on 2007-06-03 06:56 pm (UTC)I totally am ship and let ship. I don't mind it, not at all. But when it gets out of hand, like in the above instance, that's when it get annoying.
