Doctor Who

1. Dunno if this is a spoiler but...if Time Lords only get twelve regenerations (as stated in The Deadly Assassin)...does that mean that the show only has like...3 more doctors to go? (since the 'first' doctor wouldn't be a regeneration, that'd mean 13 doctors, yeah?). While I'm totally in love with Eccleston as the Doctor, it...sort of seems like a waste, to have an actor for a year, just from a stretching the show point of view. I'm sure that the writers, if we get to that stage, will write an 'out' for that.
2. Can it be assumed that the Master possessed someone else to extend his life, and isn't really dead? Like, say, Lucy?
3. I'm kind of sad that Martha isn't going to be in all of the next series. I'm hoping that doesn't mean she's gone after that. Because that would just suck, since I actually like her. *pouts* I don't wanna new companion, I want Martha. Poor Martha, still not in a Christmas Special. Though, I am looking forward to her being on Torchwood.
4. I must admit I had a few WTF moments in the finale. Like...Gollum!Doctor, and Jack being the Face of Boe (or would that be beau, now?). The Doctor as some sort of deity, and Martha as his disciple. Just sort of...weird. To RTD - I vote for you not doing the finales anymore.
5. The Toclafane. Yeah...whatever. It made my brain hurt, and the Paradox machine didn't help.
6. Speaking of the Paradox machine, how come Jack could just shoot at it and in the episode just before wasn't the Doctor talking about how he had to take it apart properly otherwise the universe would implode on itself or some such thing? Did Jack just get lucky (er. so to speak)?
7. Found the Master annoying again. Though, I did find it funny that he had his own soundtrack. Still, found him more annoying than scary.

I can't remember the actor's name, but one of the Masters repeatedly "died" and returned in the same incarnation. So he must manage to do... well... SOMETHING... (However, that means we'll have to see more of Mrs. Saxon eventually... and I didn't care too much for her.)
3. I'm VERY sad that Martha left, but I also think it was a good move in that it saved her character from becoming a Rose clone (and we don't need another one... please). She's one tough cookie, resourceful, and the whole shebang, which makes it interesting that she's actually slotted to appear in a few Torchwood episodes. I'm still miffed that she's gone though because despite the fact that companions don't last forever, it'd be rather nice to get one that lasted for more than one season! (Okay, so Rose lasted for two, but Rose's second run was significantly poorer with her "The Doctor is my one twu wuv!" pining.) And according to the BBC, Donna from the Runaway Bride is slotted to be the companion for the fourth series which is cringe-worthy. I HATED Donna.
4-6. Bring back Stephen Moffat! His dabbles into time actually work and make sense! But then again, Doctor Who has often been a very silly and improbably show.
7. I loved the Master. I nearly cried when he died. If I was an evil villain, I'd want to be like him.

on 2007-07-04 12:56 am (UTC)I will admit I enjoyed the Master better this episode than the previous one, but I was still a bit "eh?" about him. I hope he doesn't become a yearly occurrence though. The Daleks and/or Cybermen once a year are enough, especially in a 13 episode season.
